ADVENTURES OF FOOD BOY, THE
KIDS FIRST ENDORSED

This title is in the KIDS FIRST! Film Festival - it may not be a regular, endorsed title
ADVENTURES OF FOOD BOY, THE
COLD SPARK FILMS
Series: INDEPENDENT FEATURE, AGES 8-12
Description - A comedy about a teenage boy (Ezra) who inadvertently discovers that he has the power to make food appear in his hands. Ezra must ultimately choose either to embrace his unexpected but extraordinary talent or to return to his original life plan. Starring Lucas Grabeel, Brittany Curran, Kunal Sharma, Ryne Sanborn, Noah Bastian and McCall Clark.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - Offbeat and entertaining. Well produced. Original premise leads to unexpected situations. Interesting story, based on a "gift" that the boy had to learn to use. His learning is intriguing and the effects of the gift are funny. The setting is a high school and included events typical for high schoolers. The story flows well and there are lots of details to the "gift" the boy had to learn to control. As you're watching it, you wonder where it's going and willing go along. Even an interaction with a bully is handled through non-violent response. There is no profanity or negative topics. The boy is always late for class and, as a result the teacher is awful to him. All the adults are a bit over-played and stereotyped. You can appreciate that the creators paid attention to keeping inappropriate language and topics out as there are plenty of opportunities to include if they so chose. Excellent production values, acting, sets and costumes. Besides, it is darn good entertainment. If high school isn't difficult enough, Ezra Chase (Lucas Grabeel) must cope with the fact that food, in many forms, appears in his hands. While useful during school food fights, Ezra must deal with this strange talent at the time most kids are concerned with fitting in and college acceptance. The film is fun and moves well, just watch out for all the flying food!
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - Younger kids enjoyed the food theme and the boy's ability to retaliate with throwing food at people. Older kids thought it was funny although a bit corny. Overall response from kids: "Interesting story." They enjoyed watching it even though it was "weird" and completely unbelievable. Favorite part: food fight! Kids thought the teacher was mean and spiteful, especially when he belittled the boy for being late to class. They really enjoyed the food fight scenes and the parts when the food boy got his time to shine. All the kids found the premise of being able to make food at will interesting and appealing but unbelievable.

ADVENTURES WITH CONNOR & JADEN, VOL. 2: WINGS, SCALES AND TAILS
BOOGIEBUBBLE PRODUCTIONS, INC. Click to purchase directly from the producer
Series: INDEPENDENT SHORT, AGES 2-5
Description - Connor and Jaden explore the fascinating animals at the zoo and then experience the living environment of the butterfly. Upbeat music along with educational facts will transport young children to a destination of adventure.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - Good concept since it allows toddlers an opportunity to watch children similar to themselves on the screen - something that doesn't happen often for kids in this age group. At the same time, kids are learning something about animals. Be forewarned that the production is very amateurish with low resolution video and shaky camerawork. The segments are a bit sloppy at times and the dialogue lacks wit. But, at the same time, it's appealing to toddlers, especially with the youth narrator. The cover art is very unappealing.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - Kids enjoyed watching this and wanted to watch it again as well as share with their friends. The animals were a bit hit, as were the onscreen toddlers. "We like the zoo." Its energy is contagious. "After viewing, the kids were begging us to take them to the zoo." The kids laughed, danced and talked about their favorite things to do. Even the kids mentioned the cover art though - they didn't want to watch it when first shown the cover.

The production level is very simple but it works. The child narrator will most likely appeal to little ones while adults will enjoy the child's perspective on daily living. Clear images and music.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - The two-year-olds loved it. They described the pictures and what they saw. One child asked to watch it again. They loved seeing the water and the playground and kept saying "babies." They talked to the screen about what they saw. Good length.

ADVENTURES WITH WINK AND BLINK: DAY IN THE LIFE OF A ZOO!, A
LAUREL HILL ENTERTAINMENT
Series: ADVENTURES WITH WINK AND BLINK
Description - Young viewers join fun pals Wink & Blink on an interactive trip to the zoo. Along the way they'll learn about lots of animals, they'll discover what it's like to be a zookeeper, and they'll even tag along with the zoo vet on a barn-yard house call.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - Enjoyable with lots of useful information and footage of zoo animals but the presentation doesn't always stay relevant for its target audience. The visuals and general content are just right for preschoolers but some of the information is too advanced for them such as the concept of carnivores, herbivores, and onmivores. Also, the magic door game where children have to find clues about a mystery animal is far too complicated for younger children.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - Liked the footage of the zoo animals. One two-year-old kept putting her hands on the floor and walking on all fours every time she say the apes or monkeys saying they walk like this. Kids wanted to watch it again immediately and pointed out their favorite animals as reasons why. The clue game with the puzzle keys was very confusing and needed explaining. The two's ignored the game completely and the older kids kept asking questions about it.

ALICE IN WONDERLAND

Description - Daydreaming Alice chases the White Rabbit into the magical, madcap world of Wonderland with its kaleidoscope of off-the-wall characters. Alice goes to a wild tea party, meets the Queen of Hearts, and is tricked into playing a curious croquet game.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - Whimsical, magical adventure with great characters and a memorable score. This film delivers an entertaining adaptation to two Lewis Carroll books, "Through the Looking Glass" and "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." The fantasy of the world down the rabbit hole is very surreal - entertaining for some, disturbing for others. There is delightful choreography of the dancing playing cards. Also, the Queen beheads several cards and calls for Alice's execution - too scary for the preschool crowd.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - Really taken with the fantasy. "I would like to dream like that." "It told a very funny story of things that we can't see here in this world." "We also get bored with school and want to go exploring." They even said they would like to read the book.

TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX HOME ENTERTAINMENT Click to purchase directly from the producer
Description - A fantasy musical sequel to "Alice In Wonderland" featuring Jimmy Durante, Jack Palance, The Smothers Brothers and Agnes Moorehead. Nostalgic production values from the '60s.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - Surprisingly feminist for its time. Addresses overcoming fears, taking a stand, being wary of strangers and following one's dream. This is not Lewis Carroll's original tale but it's engaging nonetheless. Lots of humor and a touch of haughtiness.

ALL ABOUT JOHN DEERE FOR KIDS, PART 1
TM BOOKS AND VIDEO
Series: ALL ABOUT JOHN DEERE FOR KIDS
Description - Shows children the growing season from planting to harvest while watching new and antique John Deere equipment in action.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - This is a virtual visual research paper about trackers with top notch information but definitely not something for every viewer. You're goijng to have to be a die hard tracktor fan to get the most out of this. The extent of ths information about tractor ranges from fields to auction, and covers a time period that goes back to the beginning of tractors to present time. The songs are a refreshing break from the incredible amount of statistics and information offered. Kids who know nothing about farming have a lot learn about the volume of labor that goes into planting and harvesting and how machines help. It challenges the viewer with information such as motor sizes and types of machinery but the viewer does get lost. Near the end is an interactive game which puts the viewer's comprehension skills to test.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - Liked it. "I learned a lot about tractors. I like the music, the tractor that goes backwards, the Buck and the wrong field part, and learning about all the machines and how they work. I want to be a robotics engineer someday and I love learning about machines." They enjoyed learning about John Deere. Even though they didn't see him, he was a main character. The littlest viewers loved the animal pictures and named the animals. One 2-year-old loved the flags on the tractors. "I'm not really into tractors but it was still good."
